In El Ejido, Almeria, around 400 municipal workers from ELSUR have begun industrial action and plan to continue until October 28th unless the situation, relating to unpaid wages, is resolved.
According to the Union, the amount of outstanding wages to employees is around €760,000. The Union is planning a number of demonstrations and protests, most notably outside the Town Hall and El Corte Ingles.
During the dispute, should no resolution be forthcoming, around 20 employees will maintain a ‘minimum service’ regarding gardens, lighting, public works, maintenance and sanitation.
