The provincial secretary of the PSOE, Francisco Conejo, has been meeting with residents of Valle de Abdalajís affected by the lack of mains drinking water in their homes, a situation which has now been going on for one year.
Protests in October 2009 led to a promise by the Junta de Andalucia to resolve the problem, which mainly affects farm labourers and a number of foreign residents. However, a year later and absolutely nothing has been done.
Francisco Conejo has promised to mediate with the Department of the Environment to expedite matters, but one doubts anyone is holding their breath for a quick solution to the problem.
