Mario Vargas Llosa will collect the Award for Freedom of Expression and Human Values next Wednesday at a ceremony to be held in the Real Teatro de Las Cortes in San Fernando, Cádiz province.
The presentation of this award will be one of the main events of the 40th International Assembly of Broadcasting (AIR) in which hundreds of businessmen in radio and television from America, Europe and Asia will discuss the global situation of freedom of expression.
The First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Alfredo Perez Rubalcalba, will present the award to Mario Vargas Llosa.
Nobel Laureate Mario Vargas Llosa is the third person to receive the Freedom of Expression and Human Values award since its inauguration in 2000, the others being King Juan Carlos and, in 2002, Pope John Paul II.
