A private detective hired by the parents of a 12 year old girl who was sexually abused in 2004 has assisted in the location and detention of the alleged perpetrator, a former rugby player from Sevilla.
Forty-four year old F.N. is charged with allegedly sexually abusing a 12 year old girl with whom he had sex over a period of several months beginning in December 2004.
In June 2005, the former rugby player was released on €24,000 bail after the parents made the allegations of sexual abuse.
At his first trial, the accused denied having had any sexual or romantic relationship with the child and gave the judge a detailed agenda of activities and travel which, in his opinion, showed that he could not have commited the abuse when the girl claimed.
The girl stated that she had sex with the defendant when she was under 12 years old, automatically considered to be non-consensual abuse, and DNA tests apparently tend to confirm this.
In 2007, a search and capture warrant was issued, and last week, the accused was located in Murcia where he was living with his girlfriend.
He told the judge that he fled Sevilla after a ‘panic attack’ about what might happen to him.
The accused is now behind bars and awaiting trial. The prosecution is requesting a sentence of at least six years imprisonment.
