Mobile network operator Vodafone has announced price cuts to European data roaming charges as from Wednesday and this means a charge of £2 per day for up to 25mb of data for casual users, or £10 per month for the same daily allowance for regular travellers.
The company say that the new allowances equate to reading and replying to 250 emails, accessing Facebook 500 times, watching 25 minutes of YouTube or downloading 65 maps.
However, this is an opt in service. Vodafone users must opt in to the new tariffs, otherwise they will stay on the standard £1 per mb plan. Those on a contract (£40 and above) already automatically get 5mb a day in Europe and this will now increase to 25MB.
