Last Sunday, at the Hotel Tryp Alameda in the Larios centre, Málaga, a maintenance worker was called in to examine an air-conditioning duct which appeared to have been tampered with and, upon opening the duct, he found 20 bundles of €500 notes.
The police were called and the notes, to the value of €200,000, were found to be counterfeit.
Police are now trying to find out who stayed in the room recently. The hypothesis is that the dodgy money was going to be used in some sort of scam.
