The pine coffin which used to contain the body of Lee Harvey Oswald, the man widely believed to have shot President John F Kennedy, is to be sold at auction.
Oswald was buried in the pine coffin for almost 20 years before being exhumed in 1981 because his widow wanted to verify that it was actually him inside the coffin. He was then reburied in a new casket in the same Texas cemetery.
Also scheduled to go on sale at the auction in Los Angeles are instruments used to embalm Oswald, his death certificate, an Easter card he sent to his brother and a piece of the car seat on which President Kennedy was sitting when he was shot.
