According to a statement by the Mayor of Nerja, the Junta de Andalucia has now completed its administrative proceedings relating to the proposed sewage plant in Nerja and the file has been passed to the Ministry of Environment for the preparation of an environmental impact report.
The Junta de Andalucia has now completed its part of an agreement signed in 2006 and it is now up to the Ministry of Environment, specifically the General Division of Environment Quality, to take the matter further.
There is an environmental impact report to be prepared, which is a three month project, as well as the arranging of financing.
Once the environmental report is ready, and if funding is available, the works can then be put out to tender.
On the subject of financing the project, the Mayor added that the agreement between the Junta de Andalucia and the State provides for financing from State funds and not, as the Junta de Andalucia recently announced, through the tax hike in water rates due to hit the region at the beginning of the year.
Can anyone spot the next delay already?
The Mayor hopes that there will be no problems with funding and that construction can begin as soon as possible.
