As part of the Immaculate Conception celebrations, the village of Maro is holding a special retro event, aiming to recreate the Teleclub Maro which existed in the 1960’s and 1970’s.
Back in the sixties, few in Maro, particularly older people, did not have television and Teleclub Maro was created and was a resounding success.
It was basically a communal area with a TV and became an alternative to bars and cafes as a social gathering place, attracting people of all ages and also from neighbouring towns and villages.
The multipurpose hall is the venue and from 19:00 on Tuesday December 7th, the aim will be to recreate the atmosphere of those bygone years.
There will be music, exhibitions of photos, media clippings and plebty of Christmas munchies on offer.
