Two Guardia Civil officers, one National Police officer and two Spanish citizens of Moroccan origin have been arrested in Algeciras in connection with the smuggling of hashish into Spain via the port of Algeciras.
The operation began on Friday with the arrival of a boat from Tangier in which 300 kilos of drugs were hidden in a false bottom of the vessel.
The Guardia Civil and National Poilce officers assisted the traffickers in bypassing various controls at the port and into a waiting car.
The car was intercepted near the north tunnel by members of the Organised Crime and Narcotics Unit from Algeciras and the occupants were arrested. They then returned to the port to arrest the Guardia Civil and National Police officers who had been involved.
