Bars, restaurants, pubs and clubs in Álora, Cártama, Pizarra, Valle de Abdalajís and Almogía have been given permission to stay open longer during the run-up to Christmas and can now close at 06:00 instead of 04:00 as currently requiored under municipal ordinances.
A request was made by Guadalpyme, the district association of employers and businesses, and agreed by the five municipal authorities.
The establishments are free to choose whether they adopt the new hours or not, depending upon their circumstances.
The idea is to help businesses who are struggling to survive during the economic crisis as, according to Guadalpyme, there is a local demand for extended hours.
