After a great start to the long ‘puente’ weekend, the Sierra Nevada ski resort was forced to close the ski slopes on Monday due to strong gusting winds up to 120 kph.
Saturday saw around 7,000 skiers taking advantage of excellent conditions with 54.5 kilometres of pistes open.
Monday, however, was a case of engaging in other activities after Cetursa, the resort operator, decided to close the slopes on the grounds of safety.
Despite the air traffic controllers strike, hotels in the resort are registering 85% occupancy.
