The Chief Prosecutor in Málaga, Antonio Morales Lázaro, has ordered the Court of First Instance and Instruction in Torrox to open a pretrial investigation into the privatisation of the water supply in Frigiliana to determine whether any criminal offence was committed during the adjudication process.
Frigiliana Council, PA controlled, used its absolute majority to ensure the sale of the water supply management to the company Aqualia for a period of 25 years, receiving payment of €800,000.
The investigation is the result of a complaint by the opposition PSOE relating to possible financial fraud and forgery during the process.
The PSOE contend that the people of Frigiliana opposed the sale of the water supply and that it is purely a means of obtaining a short term loan prior to an election by selling off public assets.
