The Málaga Provincial Council has allocated €500,000 from the 2011 budget for the Nerja History Museum, the first supramunicipal body to actually make a contribution, and both major parties have been quick to claim responsibility for this event.
The museum has, so far, been financed by the Nerja Caves Foundation through a series of loans totalling €4.5 million and built on land ceded by the Nerja Council for the purpose. Numerous attempts to obtain funding from provincial and regional administrations had thus far fallen on deaf ears.
Málaga Provincial Council has now stated the intention of contributing €500,000, this money being left over from the fund for storm damage. Other projects set to benefit include renovation of the Caminito del Rey in Ardales, the contribution in that case being around €4 million.
