According to the Councillor for Tourism, José Miguel García, work on restoring the Eagle Aquaduct is proceeding on schedule. The edifice is currently covered with around 4,000 metres of scaffolding.
During the early stages of the work, various inscriptions have been uncovered on the aquaduct, including the original ‘Pure and Clean Conception’, and these are being restored.
There is also a niche where a religious statue or artefact would have been placed as well a weather vane, both of which are being restored.
The cleaning and restoration project is costing €513,515 and is being carried out by the company Hermanos Campano SL.
