A 35 year old woman died in Marbella after being run over by her own car on the A-7 near the Hospital Costa del Sol.
Police discovered the stationary vehicle which at first sight looked empty. However, upon closer inspection they found the door ajar and the body of a woman inside.
Initial reaction was that she had died as the result of a crime, but further investigation of the area led to an entirely different scenario.
It now appears that the woman stopped the car in the middle of the road, presumably as the result of a breakdown, but then saw that the vehicle began to roll downhill. Trying to get to the brake to stop the vehicle, the woman then seems to have been caught between the door of the car and the guardrail.
Paint on the guardrail and shreds of clothing suggest she was dragged about fifty metres from where the car had originally stopped. Police noted that the handbrake was not engaged, adding yet more credence to their theory.
