After almost five years of delays and proverbial red tape, the Junta de Andalucia has apparently finally given the go-ahead for the botanical garden project at the Nerja Caves.
The botanical garden, which will also include classrooms, offices, toilets, changing rooms, storage facilities, a nursery, rock garden and a pond, will cover an area of almost three hectares.
The project is costing €2,644,341.46 and has a completion period of three years. The Nerja Caves Foundation are hoping that work can begin in 2011.
All that now remains is the signing of an agreement between the Nerja Caves Foundation and the Junta de Andalucia relating to the management of the gardens.
