The Mossos d’Esquadra in Girona have located the bodies of two people thought to be the parents of a 33 year old man who was found dead on Friday.
The 33 year old man suffered from mental problems, spending weekdays at a special school and weekends with his parents.
The two adults, whose bodies were found in the Rio Fluvia near Serinyà, are the biological mother and stepfather of the deceased. The mother was a Spanish national, although of Dutch origin, and the stepfather was a Dutch national.
Evidence suggests that the son was stabbed to death at the family home and that the parents committed a suicide. A note indicating their intention to kill themselves was recovered at the family home and they were found holding hands in the river and with a backpack filled with rocks.
The couple had another son who did not live with them.
