Mijas is the latest municipality to boost its coffers by selling off the management of the public water system.
The company Acosol takes over the management of the water supply in Mijas from Mijagua. The concession is for 25 years, in exchange for which the municipality will receive €27 million.
The aim is to keep the price of water at current levels, unlike in neighbouring Marbella where prices were raised.
Around fifty of the Mijagua staff are being incorporated into Acosol.
