The consumer organisation FACUA has so far received 860 complaints relating to the new, tougher anti-smoking laws and has initiated action against one bar in Sevilla.
The majority of complaints have come from the regions of Andalucia, Madrid and Cataluña, with Madrid, Barcelona and Málaga being the main provinces where complaints have been made.
Over 300 of the complaints have been made via the new website set up by FACUA.
FACUA has started initial proceedings against a bar in the centre of Sevilla which continues to have a cigarette vending machine outside and with no remote control to prevent use by minors and has no signs stating that smoking is prohibited.
