The Cueva del Tesoro has become the number one tourist attraction in Rincón de la Victoria and the number of visitors to the caves in 2010 was up by 1% on the previous year.
Over 30,000 people visited the caves during 2010. The authorities are planning a huge investment to promote the caves by means of a museum in the Prehistory Interpretation Centre in the El Cantal Archaeological Park and work at the site of the caves themselves.
The project, valued at €8.9 million and funded by the Council and the Junta de Andalucia through the Plan for Sustainable Tourism.
During 2010, the caves have also been successfully used as the venue for a number of events and activities such as the First World Music Festival, the X International Music Festival and a number of exhibitions.
