A youth has been arrested in Santa Fe, Granada province, on charges of extortion after he threatened a young girl via the social network Tuenti, forcing her to hand over about €3,000 in total over a period of time.
The youth found out that the girl had some embarrassing photos on her personal website and, at first, demanded €10 for not telling her parents.
However, the demands for money continued and the amounts progressively increased from €20, to €100 to €500 until she had handed over nearly €3,000. The level of threats also increased until the youth was threatening to kill her parents if she didn’t pay.
The father, meanwhile, was wondering why his money was disappearing on a regular basis, eventually finding out.
If you don’t want anyone else to see it, read it or find it, don’t publish it on the internet. You may think you have a private or personal website, but someone can nearly always hack into it.
