A 93rd minute goal from Javi Martínez deprived the Blue and Whites of victory against Athletic Bilabao on Saturday evening, the match ending in a 1-1 draw.
Demichelis headed in a Duda corner to give Málaga the lead in the eightieth minute and it was looking like being the winning goal until the late strike by Javi Martínez who, with his back to the goal, headed on a free kick.
Goals from Villa, Messi, Iniesta and Pedro saw Barcelona extend their lead, at least temporarily, at the top of La Liga to five points with a 4-0 win against Deportivo.
Sevilla twice came from behind to eventually beat Real Sociedad 2-3. Diego Rivas put Real Sociedad ahead but the lead only lasted two minutes, Kanouté scoring for Sevilla.
Llorente made it 2-1 and it was another twenty minutes before Luis Fabiano deflected a shot past the keeper to even things up again. Two minutes later, though, Kanouté grabbed his second of the evening and Sevilla emerged victorious.
