The new Moroccan ambassador to Spain, Ahmedu Uld Suilem, has arrived in Madrid to take up his post.
The post has been vacant for the past year, the former ambassador, Omar Azziman, having returned to Morocco in January 2010 following a number of ‘incidents’ between the two countries.
Ahmedu Uld Suilem will formally present his credentials to the King on Monday at the Royal palace.
Ahmedu Uld Suilem was born in 1951 in Dajla, Western Sahara, known during the time that the Spanish managed the colony, up to 1975, as Villa Cisneros. He was a member of the Polisario Front until 2009 when he left to support Morocco’s plan for autonomy for Western Sahara.
