The Works Council at the Las Palomas Hotel in Torremolinos, Málaga province, has agreed to begin open-ended talks as from 08:00 on Monday morning regarding the non-payment of December wages and bonuses.
The current financial climate in Spain has made the 100 employees at the hotel nervous about receiving their pay and the possibility that the hotel might close down leaving them unemployed.
The hotel was bought by the hotel management, under the name of Fernando Puche, in April 2007. Without further investment, the hotel was changed from three star to four star and put up for sale shortly afterwards.
Fernando Puche is reported as saying that the hotel has debts of €3 million and there is no money to pay employees or suppliers.
