The town of Écija in Sevilla province was particularly badly hit during the recent rainy period, severe flooding occurring on no less than five occasions as the Rio Genil reached record levels.
Each time they began to clean up the mess, the town was flooded once more and over 300 families have been affected.
The latest estimate of the damage caused by the floods is put at €23.5 million and the Consortium of Insurers and the Junta de Andalucia are working on the details of aid and financial compensation for those affected.
