Police in Madrid have raided what is considered to be the largest cocaine laboratory in Europe, arresting 25 people in the process.
The cocaine laboratory was located in a finca in the Madrid suburb of Villanueva de Perales and the building contained numerous security devices and mechanisms, including double closets leading to hidden areas.
Police seized 300 kilos of cocaine ready for distribution, 33 tons of chemicals, €2 million in cash, 470 mobile phones, vehicles and a further €50 million.
The detainees, most of whom are now behind bars, include a number of Spanish and Colombian nationals. Some of the detainees belong to a Madrid law firm.
Raids were carried out on a number of other premises, twenty-two in total, and the investigation remains open so further arrests are not being ruled out.
