The Andalucian Health Service managed to reduce waiting times in 2010. The average wait for surgery was 56 days, for a first consultation with a specialist was 46 days and 20 days for performing a diagnostic test.
During 2010, the SAS undertook 526,500 operations, 11,500,000 specialist consultations and 1,600,000 diagnostic tests.
Attacks on health personnel increased during 2010 to around 1,000 cases, although these were mainly verbal assaults. Nevertheless, the SAS spent in the region of €114 million on improving security in Health Centres.
