Traders in Torrox are once again worried by the number of robberies taking place at business premises in the municipality and are demanding, yet again, an increased police presence.
The number of robberies has apparently increased, with at least a half a dozen being reported in the past few weeks. Most take place in the evenings or at weekends, when the premises are closed or empty, but that is not always the case now and several owners have found themselves being confronted by thieves.
The president of the Association of Merchants and Businessmen in Torrox (Asecot), Leopoldo López, is asking traders to report all robberies, however small, so that these will be reported in the official statistics and, at the same time, is requesting more police presence.
