The first winter storm in Málaga province, with winds up to 70 kph, has resulted in substantial damage to a number of beaches, most notably in Torrox and Manilva.
The winds, and waves up to four metres, have shifted a lot of sand from beaches.
In Manilva, Mayor Antonia Muñoz has requested central government assistance to fence off and repair the road linking the town with the highway as it has been all but destroyed by the storm and is hazardous for traffic.
Various weather alerts, particularly for rain, continue today in parts of Andalucia and 26 provinces in Spain are on alert for cold weather, temperatures in Aragon and Cataluña expected to dip to around minus ten degrees.
