According to a Tourist Spending Survey (Egatur) commissioned by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, tourist spending in Spain was up by 2% in 2010, the first positive figures since 2007.
The average expenditure by tourists rose by 1.1% to €932 and average daily spending rose by 2.8% to €98.
December was not a good month, though, with bad weather all across Europe and the air traffic controller’s strike resulting in total spending falling by 3.5% when compared to the previous year.
A total of 53 million tourists visited Spain during 2010, spending almost €49,000 million euros.
