According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), whose members account for 40% of UK cosmetic surgeons, there were 3,214 nose jobs (up 9%), 3,039 tummy tucks (down 7%), 2,896 liposuctions (down 4%) and 9,418 breast enhancements (up 10%) carried out on women in 2010.
Overall, there were 38,274 cosmetic surgery operations, 90% being performed on women.
For men, one of the biggest increases was for breast reduction, 741 (up 28%) desiring to get rid of their ‘man boobs’, or ‘moobs’ as they are often referred to.
Nose jobs were up 13% at 991, eyelid surgery was up by 6% at 652 and there were 496 ear correction procedures.
