A small, wooden boat carrying 18 North Africans was intercepted last night about 14 miles off the coast of Almuñecar, Granada province. Unfortunately, not one of the passengers had remembered to bring their travel documents with them.
The boat was detected by the Integrated External Surveillance System (SIVE) and a patrol boat, the Río Aragón, was sent to intercept.
The passengers, all adult males, were then taken to the port of Motril where the Red Cross provided assistance before handing them over to the National Police in preparation for repatriation.
