Hunting societies in the Antequera area have expressed their concern to the Andalucia Hunting Federation about plans by ADIF to contract a company to carry out the pest control of rabbits who have made their homes near the AVE high-speed rail lines.
One of the main concerns is that the concession for this pest control allows for the on-site disposal of the animals if necessary and prohibits the marketing of the captured animals.
The associations argue that this measure would end one of the most abundant game resources in the area, without which the existence of many associations would be threatened.
In addition, the associations fear that the measure will also instigate the development of a black market in rabbits.
