The popular and influential women’s forum Mumsnet has withdrawn its support for UK Tory MP’s proposals to try and get internet service providers to filter the web to stop children from accessing pornography.
Many of its members reacted angrily to the initial endorsement and criticised Mumsnet for promoting censorship and shifting responsibility away from parents. The forum was then forced to backtrack and withdraw its support.
The site is now calling for a broad discussion to discover the best solution to the issue.
