Yesterday, February 14th, saw the birth of a new association at the Casa Cervantes in Vélez Málaga, the Axarquia Pregnancy Association (Asociación de Embarazadas de la Axarquía).
The idea was conceived about eighteen months ago as a means of providing information and help for expectant mothers during the nine month gestation period, especially with such things as gifts, and yesterday it finally came to fruition.
The association currently has about 100 members, people from Vélez Málaga, Nerja and Rincón de la Victoria.
A bimonthly magazine called ‘Embarazadas de la Axarquía’ is being published, the first issue now available in health centres in the region and in various shops and other locations in Torre del Mar and Vélez Málaga.
Entities such as the Andalucian Health Service and Social Action Department of the Council will also be contributing to the magazine as well as the women themselves.
