Twelve people of varying nationalities have been arrested in Marbella in connection with the organised theft of luxury vehicles in Italy and Eastern Europe and their subsequent resale through outlets in Spain.
The cars were stolen abroad and then brought to Spain, where new plates and false documents were supplied so that the cars could be resold with the appearance of being legal.
Twenty-one high-end cars, eleven stolen and ten being used by members of the gang, have been seized in various parts of Spain, including Pontevedra, Madrid, La Línea de la Concepción and Marbella.
Most of the detainees live in luxury dwellings in Marbella and some were even managers or former managers of automobile companies.
