The Municipal Council of Trade in Nerja, which includes representatives from both the business community and the local government, has put forward a number of proposals including the creation of a catering school.
They have asked the Council and the Nerja Caves Foundation to open a catering school in Nerja which would be run by the AEN (Employers Association) but would be municipal in character.
The Municipal Council of Trade is also asking for a sign to be erected at the Nerja Caves to encourage visitors to the monument to also make a trip into the centre of Nerja.
A further request is to transform the old Tourist Office near the Balcon de Europa into a thematic area based upon the TV series ‘Verano Azul’.
The Captain says:
More than one way of skinning a cat?
Given the animosity between the Council and the Nerja Caves Foundation, the apparent refusal of the Foundation to hand over 10% of revenues to the Council and a halt in the funding of local projects, the new president of the AEN being a Councillor…..it is hard not to be cynical when it comes to party politics.
