National Police officers have arrested two people in Marbella as they allegedly manipulated an ATM at a bank, installing a card reader into the ATM in order to capture credit card information for the subsequent cloning of the cards.
A group of police officers spotted the two men, both residents of Sevilla, as they were in the process of installing a card reader into an ATM at a bank in Marbella.
The card reader is designed to mechanically capture information from the magnetic strips of credit cards introduced by users of the ATM.
Once the data had been collected, it would then be transferred to another storage device, the idea being for the fraudsters to either proceed to clone the credit cards themselves or to sell the data to a third party for exploitation.
