Throughout Saturday night and continuing on Sunday, work is going on to change all the 120 kph speed limit signs in Spain to 110 kph as the new energy saving measure comes into effect at 06:00 on Monday morning.
The new speed limit is temporary, valid until June 30th, so stickers are being used on the signs.
The Official Gazette yesterday published the amendments to the Rules of the Road and the Traffic Act.
Under this energy saving measure, fines for infringements have also had to be adjusted. Driving between 111 kph and 141 kph will incur a fine of €100 but there will be no loss of driving licence. The loss of licence will occur for speed in excess of 151 kph.
