A doctor who stopped at the scene of an accident to save the life of an injured youth and was then fined for illegal parking and had his car towed away is in court in Sevilla.
The doctor stopped to attend to the youth, who was choking and suffocating after an accident, and remained with the injured man until the ambulance arrived.
The doctor went to wash his hands after saving the youth and when he returned, he was given a €120 fine for illegal parking and his car had been towed away. Another €142 to retrieve the car.
The doctor claims the fine is invalid because he was urgently attending and saving the life of an accident victim, arguing that, under the law, not doing so would also have been a criminal offence.
