Deep down, I think we all realise that unless we grow or make our own, the food we eat is never really ‘fresh’ in the strict sense of the word. Much is imported and may have to travel a long way to get to us, but maybe what we don’t realise is just how old it can be when we buy it. Or what tricks and chemicals have been used to make it ‘look’ fresh. Just how fresh is fresh food at the supermarket?
