Today sees the start of the third week of strikes by bus drivers in Jerez de la Frontera with only a minimum service of one bus per route operating.
The employees are owed wages by the former concessionaire Cojetusa relating to the whole month of October, eleven days in November as well as extra pay for Christmas. The new concessionaire, Urbanos Amarillos, has not paid the March wages.
The current strike will continue until April 15th but, barring any surprises, is likely to be extended to July 1st.
Businesses in the area are reporting a drop in trade of up to 50% as a result of the industrial action, just what is needed during a financial crisis.
