Cisco has announced that it will be cutting back on certain aspects of its consumer businesses, which includes shutting down the highly popular Flip video camera. Cisco says it will close down the Flip business and support current FlipShare customers and partners with a transition plan.
Cisco only purchased Flip maker Pure Digital in 2009, paying $590 million for the company. The Flip quickly became a top seller thanks to its ease of use, good quality video and its trademark USB connector that flipped out of the case, allowing the camera to be connected directly to a computer.
