A small zodiac with 42 people on board was intercepted early this morning as it drifted about thirty miles off the coast of Granada.
The boat, whose engine had failed, was first spotted on Thursday evening by a navy patrol vessel. Marine Rescue then began a search for the zodiac and eventually located it drifting about thirty miles off the Granada coast.
The passengers, 38 North Africans and 4 Asians, all male, were taken to the port of Motril where the Red Cross offered assistance.
All the passengers were in apparent good health and have now been handed over to the National Police for further processing.
