Dirt, leaks, dampness and even rats are problems that have been affecting the Miguel de Cervantes Infant and Primary school in avenida de Málaga, Ronda, but this could all be resolved soon.
The old caretaker’s house, unused since 1970 and forming part of the campus, had become a source of contamination and health problems. The area, between calles Cayetano Ordóñez and Antonio Ordóñez, had been long neglected.
The old house is being demolished at a cost of €30,000 and the area will be used for recreational purposes for the school which suffers from a shortage of space.
In addition, €30,000 is being spent on repairing the roof of the school. The heavy rains during the winter further damaged the roof, leading to leaks and dampness in the classrooms. Umbrellas were apparently necessary inside certain areas of the school.
