Emergency landing at Sevilla-San Pablo airport causes delays

A total of 26 flights were affected last night at Sevilla-San Pablo airport, some flights having to be diverted, after a Vueling jet had to make an emergency landing.

At just before 21:00, a Vueling flight from Barcelona with 150 passengers on board was carrying out pre-landing checks when the pilot discovered that the front landing gear was blocked.

The aircraft landed safely without any injuries to passengers or crew but, due to the state of the landing gear, the runway could not be used for takeoffs or landings until the stricken plane had been towed away.

The plane was finally removed at 22:15 and the runway is now operating normally. The incident resulted in nine flights being diverted to Jerez and Málaga and caused delays to a number of other flights.
