The Councillor for Tourism, José Miguel García, has reported that hotel occupancy in Nerja during Easter Week was 90.7%, higher than last year (86.6%) but slightly down on predicted rates of 91.99% as a result of last minute cancellations due to bad weather.
According to the National Institute of Statistics, Nerja, Marbella, Torremolinos and Málaga city are the only towns to show an increase in occupancy rates during the first quarter of 2011 and Nerja Málaga city are the only town on the Costa del Sol to register three consecutive years of increased overnight stays.
The number of visitors to the Tourist Office during Easter Week was 2,773 compared to 1,935 last year.
