No change at the top of la Liga as both Real Madrid and Barcelona were beaten on Saturday evening.
Real played host to Zaragoza and the visitors went ahead just before half time with a goal from Lafita. Gabi added a second from the penalty spot ten minutes into the second half after Carvalho fouled Lafita inside the area.
Sergio Ramos pulled one back for Madrid, getting on the end of an Özil corner and heading the ball past the Zaragoza keeper.
Lafita got his second of the evening to restore the gap before Benzema got his name on the scoresheet for Real. Carvalho got himself sent off for a second bookable offence and Real had to play the last five minutes with only ten men, not an uncommon occurrence recently. Final score 2-3.
Meanwhile, Barcelona could have virtually sealed the championship at Real Sociedad but despite taking the lead in the first half through Thiago, ended up losing 2-1.
Ifrán equalised for the home side and then ten minutes later, Xabi Prieto scored the winner from the penalty spot.
