The Council has approved a motion to secure the necessary funding to implement their Green Belt project covering the area between Burriana beach and the N-340.
The Councillor for Infrastructure, José Alberto Tomé, reported that the Council is seeking a grant from the European Fund for Regional Development of €1,899,287 and will itself contribute the remaining €813,981 of the total budget of €2,713,268, thus avoiding any form of subsidisation.
The Councillor stated that the project would not only clean up a neglected area but provide direct and indirect employment.
Ron says:
Rob, which area are we talking about.-there are two ways from Burriana to N340. One straight up the road to the large roundabout on Avda Pescia, the other up past Chimenea.

…there is a third route too – up Calle Lucena alongside the derelict Golf Club – would be interested to know which area the Green Belt Project covers.
The Captain says:
I get the feeling the Green Belt project covers the whole area from Burriana up to the N-340, and therefore all routes. It is not a new project, however, and could just have reared its head once again in view of the upcoming elections.
Barry says:
I doubt it is the whole area, as the article refers to ‘a neglected area’ – so we still need to identify what neglected area, perhaps the old golf course – all other parts are in fairly good order.

Hi Barry, the Neglected area, is most of Nerja, the urbanized areas are disguting, the local streets in certain areas, we have been waiting for repairs to certain streets for over 15 years, I know its a comment off the subject of the green belt, in a way. If one walks up from the town to Maro, most of that walk way is full of rubbish strewn over the sides, and no one seems to clear it away , thats neglect !! and a fire hazard, but ofcourse it’s campo behind the fencing. All the new streets and parkways will be neglected the same way given enough time. What amazes me is the money spent on re-doing the Verano Azul park, when that expense could have been avoided, if it wasn’t neglected in the first instance, mind you it’s a pleasure to walk around now. Try walking around C/Chaparil and corner of Prolongacion Antonio Million, a death trap that gets worse on a daily basis…thats urgent to repair.
Regs Linda.

Yes……I’m not sure what all that was about – certainly nothing to do with the Green Belt Project in question.
